FORK LIFT TRUCK SAFETY: THE FACTS

More than one UK worker per day is seriously injured in a fork lift truck accident - more than cars and HGVs put together, (Defined by RIDDOR ).

•  In Britain, someone is killed by a fork lift truck every six weeks.

•  More people are killed by fork lifts in September than any other month of the year.

•  About two thirds of people killed by fork lift trucks are pedestrians.

•  There are an estimated 350,000 fork lift trucks currently working in Britain - many in public places like garden centres and DIY shops - so this message is for everyone.

•  Despite innovations in fork lift safety, the accident statistics have not decreased for years. The explanation? People are not being careful enough.

The message for the public is simple:

Fork lift trucks are dangerous. If you see one, keep your distance.

The message for everyone is also simple:

PEDESTRIANS AND FORK LIFTS DON'T MIX

Statistics suggest that two UK workers will be killed by fork lift trucks in the next thirty days alone unless action is taken, and as an active member of the Fork Lift Truck Association The Forkway Group are working to help our valued customers- and their employees - to stay safe.
