Case Study - Simply Waste

AUSA: Simply the Best Option for Busy Waste Management Facility

Simply Waste Solutions began life in 2005 as a small company with only 2 collection vehicles. Since that time, Simply Waste Solutions has grown into a large private waste company with over 40 vehicles of all different shapes and sizes.

Now employing almost 100 people, they handle over 55,000 collections every month and facilitate the processing of over 80,000 tonnes of waste and recycling material every year. Simply Waste Solutions has done this by building a reputation for reliable and competitively priced collections and by giving the customer exactly what they ask for.

The rapid growth and continued success meant Simply Waste needed to improve their recycling processing procedure, and as a result turned to The Forkway Group in an attempt to improve efficiency surrounding their Materials Handling equipment according to Mr James Capel, Managing Director of Simply Waste

“We approached The Forkway Group back in May 2014 regarding a demonstration of their AUSA branded rough terrain trucks and they managed to get one on site by the end of the week”, commented Mr Capel. “At that particular time we were also trialling a competitors rough terrain truck, therefore we were able to easily compare the two and gain a better understanding as to which one would work better for the company; however once our operator jumped into the AUSA Taurulift cab he wanted to keep it on site there and then. Compared to the other truck on demonstration, he found the AUSA to be easier to operate, more comfortable and less complicated, therefore making the AUSA Taurulift T 235 H a clear favourite; but there were other important factors to take into consideration.”

With the T 235 H offering significant cost savings over the competitor truck, Simply Waste could allocate the money saved towards a number of different front attachments; thus fully utilising the innovative ‘quick hitch’ feature that impressed during the demonstration. Taking no more than 20 seconds, the operator can safely change from fork attachment to bucket and vice versa.

Furthermore the operators found the AUSA cab to be spacious with all the controls to hand, including the single joystick for simple control. Industry leading 360° viewing increases productivity and efficiency along with health and safety.

The AUSA Taurulift’s robust, compact and functional capabilities enable the truck to operate safely and efficiently on various terrains ranging from uneven soft ground to flat solid surfaces, regardless of the load weight. The overall load capacity of the T 235 H is 2,300kg and it is able to operate at a total lift height of 5m. The counterweight installed at the rear of the T 235 H along with a side arm further aids safety, stability and efficiency when operating at full capacity.

“The demonstration played a big part in our decision, however it was our overall impression of the Forkway team which really convinced us. Like Simply Waste, it was clear that Forkway look to develop close working relationships built on service excellence and innovative solutions. All of our training needs were catered for and when we looked at the locality of the Forkway team we were convinced that purchasing an AUSA Telehandler T 235 H was the right option for us and the deal was completed within 2-3 weeks”, concluded Mr Capel.

Over the next 5 years, Simply Waste Solutions will continue to drive standards in the waste and recycling industry and is already looking at bio-gas collections vehicles, improved extraction of recyclable material and how best technology can be put to use to reduce their own carbon footprint as well as that of their customers; and the Forkway Group will be on hand to support them.
